Feathers from Heaven Retreats (Future Retreat Center) In Memory of John & Violet Sigmund Grandparents of Founder Dawn Ashley
The call to minister to the hearts of women was God’s plan from the moment He breathed life into us. We on the other hand “lived” life the only way we knew how for many years, but the reality was we were lost and desperate for more. We serve a God though that is bigger than any of our mistakes and that never gave up on us or the mission He created for us.
We let God in to our lives and allowed Him do a work in our hearts. In doing this, we realized that God was not counting our sins in our life. Rather our God was counting our opportunities to believe in him, and he was imparting to us righteousness.
2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
Romans 4:6-8 David says the same thing when he speaks to the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: “Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
We realized God was not looking back at our sin; he was looking forward to all we had in store and for what lied ahead.
Isaiah 43:18-19 forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making away in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
We discovered that sins confessed are sins forgiven and we experienced the joy of forgiveness in the arms of our Savior. He restored our broken hearts and put our feet down upon solid ground. He breathed a passion deep within us to set others free from bondage, to use the messes in our life to create a message. We are to co-labor with Christ and allow him to use our broken vessels to minister hope and healing to women and the youth girls that will rise up as the next generation.
It was in the death of our grandmother that this passion we realized was bigger than just a dream of ours; it was a call from Christ. In our grandmothers death God said He would bring forth life in others through us. All we had to do was so yes. That was it. He would do the rest. Our hope now is that our obedience and walk of faith will help transform the lives of people one at a time and that they will in turn do the same for people in their path of life. We hope to leave this as our legacy to our children and to generations to come. We get to tap into the blessings of our ancestors that were never tapped into before and release them upon this world. What a blessing!
We do not take this mission lightly.
Luke 12:48 From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded: and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.
This is a true act of faith and we will lean on the Lord every day to touch our world for the ONE who touched us! We are just ordinary women who love our God with an extraordinary faith and have a deep desire to touch the broken and pour out hope, truth and life.
We invite you to come away and be touched by the hands that were pierced for your transgressions. Come away and let Him touch you and make you whole. His invitation to you this weekend can be summarized in one scripture that inspired the dream of the retreats, may it touch your heart and encourage you to step away for a weekend with Jesus.
Psalm 91:4 He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
